Body Mass Index (BMI) is a value derived from the mass (weight) and height of a person. The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height, and is universally expressed in units of kg/m2, resulting from mass in kilograms and height in metres.

The BMI may be determined using a table or chart which displays BMI as a function of mass and height using contour lines or colours for different BMI categories, and which may use other units of measurement (converted to metric units for the calculation).

The BMI is a convenient rule of thumb used to broadly categorize a person as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese based on tissue mass (muscle, fat, and bone) and height.

Commonly accepted BMI ranges are underweight (under 18.5 kg/m2), normal weight (18.5 to 25), overweight (25 to 30), and obese (over 30).

The 25BMI Challenge is a challenge to any adult, male or female, to use any (healthy) means they wish – to reduce their weight and get to to their healthy target weight at 25BMI – and maintain it there.

Membership of the 25BMI Gold Club is reserved for people who reach 25BMI.

Once you reach 25BMI, you will be invited to join the club.

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TEE) is composed of:

1.The energy costs of the processes essential for sustaining life (basal metabolic rate (BMR), (60–80% of TEE), of the energy expended in order to digest, absorb, and convert food (diet-induced thermogenesis, ~10%),

AND

2. The energy expended during physical activities (activity energy expenditure, ~15–30%

People who actually track their calories say that TDEE is extremely accurate, and it is the main reason why it’s so popular. The calorie estimations should be within ~10% if you are realistic about your activity level.

For example, if someone  expends about 2,300 calories per day, the calculator could be off by 230 calories. Over the course of 1 month, this is equal to  about 7,000 calories (2lbs). Most people, however, overestimate how much they work out (ie they choose ‘Heavy Exercise’ when they should choose ‘Light Exercise’). You should use the TDEE calculator as a reasonable estimate to start with, and adjust your calories up or down based on your weight change over time.

There are literally thousands of online services, smart phone apps, meal-replacement plans, books, diets, dieticians, personal trainers and doctors – all available to help you – if you want to make positive changes to your life and lose weight.

25BMI is one of these services.

We think we have developed a better program as:

  1. Our approach is different. We believe the first issue is an educational one.  Most adults were never taught in school, or college, the basic principles of human nutrition. Once you know these facts – making changes to your lifestyle is easier – as you have the knowledge to understand why you are doing what you are in fact doing.
  2. Our program is based upon the latest academic research.
  3. We have implemented the latest technology to help you along your way.
  4. We strive to make the process as fun and engaging as possible – but it remains a challenge.
  5. We are a group of committed individuals – not financial investors. We are doing this because we believe in it.
  6. We want to help every member succeed –  one member at a time.
  7. We are focused on both the challenges of weight loss –

       (a) Losing your excess body weight.

       (b) Maintaining your weight at that level going forward.
